[Update]: Preview of new forum

Hi, all! On behalf of all admins, I'm pleased to present to you a preview of what the new forum is going to be like and it's new look... Jumping with Joy

The first screenshot is below:

Over the next few days I will be posting information/features and more screenshots of the new forum. Stay tuned...

Oh, pls give us your feedback... We will try to incorporate your feedback as much as possible... Thank you...

UPDATE: I have just uploaded new screenshots of the forum. Have a look and give your comments...

Happy to see that the new forums are coming up nicely. Will there be a need for a final beta test before the final rollout?

Unfortunately, Nova07, that dateline is impossible for several reasons... 1) The new forum is still likely to remain as RC status 2) Even if the new forum goes to stable by then, a lot of the features from this old forum will likely NOT be ready to be ported over due to a complete rewrite of the forum codes. 3) It doesn't give me much time between end of my last major exam to launching the new forum.

However, this does not mean that I will wait till everysingle feature is ported over to launch the new forum... As long as the admins feel that majority of the features have been ported over, we will then make the move to the new forum...

If that's the case then concentrate on your exams. Perhaps can launch in different phases after you're through with your exams.

Just an update - the new forum is coming along fine. I'll be upgrading the new forum to the new RC version sometime this weekend (I hope)... I'm still working on the layout. Haven't had time to post new screenshots for that yet... I have already added some new features to the new forum... and the admins right now are reviewing the permissions/priviledges system with the new forum... Once that's settled I will post more details on that...

Could I request the posts be reorganised so that there is not so much infomation in the posts?

example, if u look at this post, you see so many icons like PM, MSN, etc.
It would be great if this could be moved to the left side under the poster's avatar, as it has nothing to do with the post he is making, but part of his contact and ID.

Then there is the subject title repeated with the same font as the post with the time date between every post.

Also the extra lines between the posts which are the same blue and thickness as the boarders seperating the posts. Which also makes it more confusing :p

Im still trying very hard to get used to the current format tho Smile

Thx 4 ur suggestions, XxDrAg0nxX. Smile

Except that I don't quite agree in putting the icons at the left side below avatar ... reason being: sometime a post could be short (just one sentance), and if the left size is too long (after putting all the icons), each post will look out of proportion.

The current arrangement to line up all icons in one single line looks just fine.
